Four wheeler tires take a punishment that ordinary tires cannot handle. Unlike the tires on your family car or truck, the tires on your four-wheeler must handle circumstances that would demolish the tires on your other vehicles. A blow out or flat on your 4-wheeler is more than an inconvenience. You could be stranded for hours or overnight without food, medicine or comforts. Mud tires typically have deep grooves to displace a great deal of wet slush. Ice and snow are an entirely different situation. Undoubtedly you will tire of riding your 4-wheeler in one place and one type of situation. You will load it up in a trailer and take off across country to new terrains and new fun. If all you have in the area where you live is sand, what could be more fun than going somewhere for vacation where there may be woods or mud.

Do not feel that you must buy only new tires to be safe. There is a healthy supply of used 4-wheeler tires to buy. Because of owners buying more than one type and set or reselling their ATV and its accessories before they are completely worn out, you can find used tires with a decent amount of tread life left. Be sure not to pay more than the amount of tread left warrants.
